Those wheels make it look like a cartoon.

Also, how are you supposed to see out the back?

Most people seem to like it. Love it even. I don't like it in pictures and strongly dislike it in real life in the context of other vehicles. The design might've worked better had it been 4/5 the size, the beltline at he back is about as high as the roof of my (longer and stock height) coupe, which makes the RR look silly.

I tend to agree, but then again I actually wait to see a vehicle multiple times both in passing and up close before forming an opinion. And my opinion is, if you bought one, I would like to touch it. But I'm broke so the blokes obviously don't give a damn what I think.

Lol

No seriously I do like the looks, I figured someone should agree with you before the sea of hate boils over from the "experts"

Also, Lol

I really like it in general...if it had a performance model that was a bit for of the Dakar runner than the mall runner, I'd be in.

I think practicality loses out to style on this one. If only it had dependability, it might actually compete with the Jeep GC.

this compete with a GC? It's not even close to the same size/class vehicle, for starters it only has two doors. There really aren't many vehicles like the Evoque.

Which brings me to my question... How on earth did you think to compare the two?

Not sure how they are not in the same 'class'. This is a 2-door, but they do have a 4-door that is lower in price for some reason. These are the same general price (~50k), both are from companies with storied off road histories (US/UK), both push the 4x4 scale toward luxury. I won't compare wheel bases, petrol or diesel, greatest displacement etc. because the value of those vary by vehicle and the compromises of those manufacturer. Why compare them? Because I find them the 2 most interesting Lux-Offroaders on the market. Right now the GC is winning because of quality history and cooled seats. It is pretty close to me.

the Evoque is based on Escape... It would compare more in size to a Jeep Cherokee, not a Grand Cherokee. I'd be more inclined to compare a Range Rover to the Grand Cherokee. Is it possible the Evoque and a GC would get cross shopped? Yes. But they are different in just about every metric, engines, size, wheelbase, capabilities, etc.
